I had the opportunity to head home for a weekend a few weeks ago and do some promo photography for a local Vancouver band called The Penny Farthings. (You can check them out on Facebook here.) We started off in their jam space in East Van. I kept my eyes open for interesting spots as I drove into their neighbourhood in search of something unique, and I fell in love with the red ivy-covered wall that you’ll see in a couple of the shots below. After that, we went over to Trout Lake. I couldn’t have asked for better weather, and a more dynamic group of people (and instruments) to photograph… not to mention the gorgeous light at the end of our session. I’ll definitely have to check out one of their shows in Vancouver one day – I’ve watched a few of their videos and they’ve got a really unique folk-jazz-retro fusion thing going on. Check them out if you’re on the coast!
